This Sunday past saw an early morning drive to Bracknell to attend the first international ScarWork scar massage gathering, and what a fabulous event!
Sharon Wheeler originated the ScarWork massage technique in the US and has gradually been spreading her teachings around the globe as word of their effectiveness gets out. I was amazed to see what results could be achieved not only in terms of appearance, but also in terms of mobility, functionality, pain relief and itch relief. I had the privilege of watching Sharon herself perform a live demonstration on stage on somebody who had had to have an emergency appendectomy many years ago. The difference after a mere hour of very light touch was really incredible to witness.
I was very honoured to donate a skin camouflage consultation to the raffle. The whole event was in aid not only of further educating ScarWorkers, but also of fundraising to allow for scientific research to be carried out and hard evidence to be collected surrounding the ScarWork methods. I have my fingers crossed that the funding and the research comes together – anything that would allow this incredible work to be accepted by mainstream medicine and to be available to more people would be fantastic! I’m very happy to have played a tiny part in it.
If anyone here would like to contribute to the ScarWork efforts, there is currently a crowdfunding page live HERE
