Who can request a medico-legal report?
Any solicitor can request a medico-legal report in support of his client’s case during legal proceedings – both for the defence or the prosecution. This may prove useful in a whole host of cases ranging from road traffic accidents to clinical or medical negligence.
What does it contain?
Medico-legal reports set out the results of the client skin camouflage consultation, including in particular an assessment of the skin condition’s suitability for skin camouflage, recommended products and application, and future costs involved for the client.
How long will it take to prepare?
After a request for a medico-legal report is received, a quote and terms of business will be sent out by Skin Confident within 5 working days. Once accepted, a consultation with the client will be set up according to availability and a report will be returned to the instructing solicitor within 10 working days of the consultation taking place.
Is a consultation required before a report can be prepared?
Yes. The report and recommendations contained therein are based on the in-person consultation with the client in question. Although photos are a helpful first stage, they are not sufficient to base an assessment on.
Can you appear as an expert witness in court proceedings?
Yes. Accredited skin camouflage practitioners are generally recognised as appropriate expert witnesses in legal proceedings where skin conditions are at issue. As a qualified solicitor, Babs Forman is well versed in legal proceeding and language and will provide you with professional and reliable expert witness services.
